DID YOU KNOW THE AVERAGE MILITARY FAMILY MOVES 6-9 TIMES OVER A 20-YEAR CAREER?
With each move, military children face many school-related challenges. The School Liaison Program is the central point of contact for commanders, military families, and local school systems on school-related matters for grades Pre K-12. We are here to help ease the transition from one school to another (before and after a move) and help with navigating the school systems to ensure our military youth are given the opportunity to achieve their highest potential for academic success at any assigned location.
Our School Liaison can provide information about local school systems, state requirements, immunizations, special education navigation, school policies and procedures, home school resources, deployment resources, scholarship information and so much more!

Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I determine my zoned school(s)?
You can use the link from the Brevard Public Schools website to see what school(s) your address is zoned for.
*Please note bus transportation is only provided when families live outside a 2 mile radius from the school.
Does the local school system have school choice options available?
Yes, Florida is a school choice state. Brevard County's School Choice Office has application windows for the various types of schools for the upcoming school year. This information is posted on their website and applications are done online. Please keep in mind when using school choice options that transportation is the responsibility of the family when attending a school outside of their zoned school.
In addition, there are charter, private, virtual and home education options, as well as scholarship options to supplement these through Step Up for Students in the State of Florida.
Are school choice options still available if we transition mid-year?
Yes, if a family transitions mid-year, school choice options are still available, however the process is slightly different and coordination is made through the Patrick School Liaison Office and BPS School Choice Office with verification of the families active duty military orders.
Am I required to have a place to live before I enroll my child(ren) into school?
Military families on orders are not required to have a permanent residence prior to registering their child(ren) for school, however they will go through the school choice application process to select a school if they have not established residency. Their military orders will serve as initial proof of residency, and they can complete a form with the Patrick School Liaison Office to begin the process.
What medical forms are required for school registration?
Immunization records and a current physical within the past year are required as part of the registration process. Immunization records can be initially received in whatever format you have them in, however within 30 days, those must be transcribed onto the FL Form 680, which can be done at the Patrick SFB Clinic or any local County Health Department.
What is the age/birthday requirement for my child(ren) to attend Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)?
To attend VPK, your child(ren) must be four years of age on September of the current school year.
What's the process for homeschooling my child(ren)?
If you're planning to homeschool your child(ren), you must complete a notice of intent to Brevard Public Schools Home Education Office within 30 days. It's recommended that you select a curriculum prior to submitting your notice of intent. Parents are required to maintain a portfolio and conduct an annual evaluation, conducted by a FL certified teacher.
Which schools are supported by the Youth Centers' before and after care program?
The Patrick SFB Youth Center provides before care and transportation for Sea Park and Holland Elementary and after care and transportation for Roosevelt, Sea Park and Holland Elementary Schools.
