HONOR GUARD MISSION

The Patrick SFB Honor Guard provides military funeral honors for active duty members, retirees and veterans who served in the Air Force, Army Air Force and Army Air Corps and were "discharged under conditions other than dishonorable," IAW AFI 34-242. Our area of responsibility includes 11 counties, covering 13,276 square miles. Counties supported include Brevard, Broward, Indian River, Martin, Miami-Dade, Okeechobee, Osceola, Palm Beach, St. Lucie, Seminole and Volusia counties.

Below are the Honors that can be requested. Please note, for Veterans and Retirees, only the 2-person flag fold/presentation and Taps are guaranteed. Pallbearing and firing party are subject to Honor Guard manning.

Veteran – 2-person team that performs 2-person flag fold, Taps and flag presentation.

Retiree – 7-person team that performs pallbearing, 6-man flag fold, firing party, Taps and flag presentation

Active Duty – 20-person team that performs pallbearing, 6-man flag fold, firing party, color guard, Taps and flag presentation

 

TO SCHEDULE THE HONOR GUARD

There are two types of Honor Guard requests. Military Funeral Honors always take precedence.

  1. Military Funeral Honors: Congressionally mandated services to honor fallen servicemembers.
  2. Secondary Events: All other events which includes public events ceremonies, and other activities.

MILITARY FUNERAL HOURS REQUEST

To request Military Funeral Honors, fill out and submit the PSFB HG MFH Support Request Form along with a DD-214 or comparable documentation showing honorable service to:

SECONDARY EVENTS REQUEST

To request the Honor Guard’s participation at a secondary event you must fill out and submit the proper form. When possible, the request needs to be submitted at least 30 days in advance.

On Base or DoD Affiliated Private Events: Fill out the PSFB HG Secondary Request Form and submit it to:

Non-DoD Affiliated Private Events: Fill out and submit Request for DOD/Armed Forces Participation in Public Events Form (Non-Aviation). This document is automatically routed through Public Affairs to ensure the event is appropriate to have military members at.

To request the Honor Guard (Non-funeral), go to: Request for DOD/Armed Forces Participation in Public Events Form (Non-Aviation).

Note: Funerals are congressionally mandated and take precedence over all other Honor Guard activities. Non-funeral requests may be declined or cancelled if funerals conflict.
